This month we will be planting natives in an effort to replace weed species that we have treated on recent visits.
Help up tackle the invasive woody weed, Leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) in our creek systems. Leucaena is a huge threat to our riparian (river and creek bank) vegetation in Townsville, drastically reducing the biodiversity of these habitats as it outcompetes native species for space and resources.
We will be controlling Leucaena populations and revegetating our site in Goondaloo Creek, between The Townsville Hospital and James Cook University.
You’ll find us at the meeting point on Discovery Dr.
