About Us

Coastal Dry Tropics Landcare Inc (CDTLI) is a community group dedicated to conservation and restoration of the natural environment in the Townsville region. We run a native Plant Nursery and several community revegetation sites.

About Us

Coastal Dry Tropics Landcare Inc. (CDTLI) is an urban Landcare group that has been operating in Townsville for over 20 years. CDTLI was formed in 2004 through the amalgamation of two existing Landcare groups in Townsville, the Townsville Thuringowa Landcare Association and Tropical Urban Production and Landcare Group.

Our organisation is dedicated to conservation and restoration of native vegetation around the Townsville region, actively managing seven revegetation sites ranging across coastal dunes, creeks, and wetlands areas. We also operate a native plant nursery which is open to the public two days a week. All the profits from our nursery sales go directly back into revegetation of our Landcare sites. The Bush Garden Nursery serves as a community and education hub to the Townsville Community offering opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together, volunteer and learn.

Our Landcare Sites are managed by our dedicated team of Site Leaders and Deputy Site Leaders who host community working bees at each of our landcare sites. These working bees are held for 2 hours once a month (sometimes more regularly) at each Landcare site, where people are encouraged to come along and partake in bush regeneration activities.

CDTI support the inclusion from all walks of life and encourage volunteers to enhance their skills and knowledge through hands on, interactive activities in a safe and inclusive space.

Our Governance

CDTLI is governed by a management committee, elected by our members at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually held in October. The Management Committee are governed by the Constitution which are the rules that set out how our organisation is to be run. The Constitution is a legal document that has been registered with the Office of Fair Trading.

All positions on the Management Committee become vacant at the AGM. Members are encouraged to nominate for election.  The nominee, proposer and seconder must all be current financial or life members of CDTLI. Contact the office if you want to know more.

Members who are unable to attend the AGM can appoint a Proxy to vote on their behalf. All these documents are available for download below.

Strategic Plan

This strategic plan documents and establishes the direction of CDLTI as a volunteer based community group with minimal staff. It is maintained by the volunteer CDTLI Management Committee to clearly define our mission and provide guidance to the organisation.
